About
Dr. Wilka Garcia-Nunez graduated with honors and was inducted into the Dental Honor Society (OKU) from Meharry Medical College obtaining a DDS degree. She practiced general dentistry for 3 years during which time she decided her true passion lay in Orthodontics. She went back to school for her specialty training at Jacksonville University where she received a Master of Science in Dentistry.
Dr. Wilka Garcia-Nunez is a Specialist in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and completed a 3-year Post-Doctoral training from an accredited Orthodontic Program. She was involved in two research projects one of which is pending publication in a well-recognized orthodontic journal.
Dr. Wilka Garcia-Nunez has a love for music and dance. She plays the violin and has played the flute in the past. She dances multiple Latin genres including Argentine Tango, Merengue, and Salsa. Dr. Wilka Garcia also enjoys reading and playing golf, tennis, and racketball. Her favorite pastime is spending time with her furry baby Cocoa, a chocolate lab mix.
Dr. Wilka Garcia-Nunez stays fit by training in kickboxing, Muay Thai, and Jiu-Jitsu.
Education
Dr. Wilka Garcia-Nunez completed her undergraduate education at Florida Atlantic University, graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree. She then attended Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree, graduating Cum Laude and being inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. Dr. Garcia-Nunez further pursued her passion for orthodontics by completing a Certificate in Orthodontics at Jacksonville University, followed by a Master of Science in Dentistry (MsD) degree at Jacksonville University.
